Set your time cap and go — as many rounds as possible.
What is an AMRAP timer?
An AMRAP timer is a countdown timer for "as many rounds (or reps) as possible" workouts. You set a time cap — say 20 minutes — and the timer counts down to zero while you complete as many rounds of a set workout as you can. Your score is the number of rounds plus any extra reps. The timer signals the final seconds and the finish so you know exactly when to stop and log your score.
AMRAP is a cornerstone of CrossFit programming because it's self-scaling and easy to score: everyone runs the same clock, and the rounds-plus-reps number measures your work.
How an AMRAP works
You're given a workout and a cap. Example — 20-minute AMRAP: 5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups, 15 air squats. You cycle through that sequence as many times as possible before the clock hits zero. Finish eight full rounds plus 5 pull-ups and your score is "8 + 5."
